Materials

  • Less than 50 grams, fingering weight/4 ply yarn in 3 colors. I used DROPS Flora and Fabel:
    • Beige (Flora, Beige 07)
    • Blue (Flora, Misty forest 23)
    • Yellow (Fabel, Mustard 18)
  • 3 mm hook (US D)
  • 2 mm and 3 mm double-pointed needles (US 0 and 2.5)
  • Toy stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Embroidery floss (in black or dark brown)

I used Drops Flora for the bear, which is a 100% wool yarn. I recommend using wool or any other kind of natural, animal fiber for this project since wool has a much warmer, cozier touch than cotton. It's also nice to have a few fibers sticking out from the teddy bear, this gives a fuzzier, fur-like texture to the final creature.

Finished Size

Your final teddy bear will be 15 cm (6 inches) from head to toe when using a 3 mm hook and DROPS Flora yarn. You can use other hook and yarn combinations to make him bigger or smaller.

Notes

Misho’s body is crocheted, while his garments are knitted. When crocheting, all sections are worked in a continuous round unless otherwise specified. Always mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker.

Used techniques

To be able to make this simple teddy bear, you only have to know some very basic amigurumi and knitting techniques. For the teddy bear, we will use single crochet stitches in the round. The two legs will be done separately, then joined later together. The head, arms, ears, and tail is crocheted separately too, but they will be sewn to the body in the end. The scarf of the bear is knitted in the round, while his pants are knitted flat.
